When an ethanol-production plant discovered that it
had a severe microbial infection that was affecting
operations, Phibro was there with a solution.
Our highly regarded technical support team
recommended adding Lactrol® antimicrobial to the
plant's yeast propagator and fermentor. Within 10 days,
the infection had reduced significantly. Within one
month, the problem was gone. Lactrol antimicrobial
treatment saved this customer nearly $1.6 million per
year in lost revenue on this one incident. It’s no wonder
the plant continues to use Lactrol to prevent future
infections.

Potassium nitrate is an ingredient used in toothpaste made for sensitive teeth.
Potassium nitrate has met the requirement of desensitizing tooth pain. It is thought to act directly on the pulpal sensory nerves. When cold or air causes tooth pain, the potassium actually calms the nerves, preventing the transmission of pain . After an initial depolarization of sensory nerve fiber membranes, excess potassium halts repolarization. Thus, the ability of potassium nitrate to quell dentinal hypersensitivity may be due to an irreversible depolarization. Several brands of toothpastes are available with potassium nitrate.
