Cattlyst® (laidlomycin) medicated feed additive is an ionophore that provides improved feed efficiency and increased rate of weight gain in beef cattle fed in confinement for slaughter.
Indications
For improved feed efficiency and increased rate of weight gain in beef cattle fed in confinement for slaughter.
Cattlyst® encourages feed intake and helps cattle convert that feed into increased weight gain.
- Improves feed efficiency
- Increases weight gain
- Has a zero-day withdrawal to give producers marketing flexibility
- Does not require a veterinary feed directive (VFD)
A pooled analysis examined seven feedlot studies utilizing 10,526 animals. In the studies, the cattle were fed Cattlyst® with Aureomycin® Type A Medicated Article to control bovine respiratory disease (BRD). When compared to cattle fed Rumensin® with Tylan®, the cattle fed Cattlyst with Aureomycin demonstrated:
- 15.3 more pounds of live weight2
- 8.7 more pounds of hot carcass weight2
- 0.62 pound greater feed intake per day2
- 2.1% greater average daily gain (ADG)2
A meta-analysis reviewed 17 data sets representing 13,603 steers. The data sets included cattle fed Cattlyst with or without Aureomycin to control BRD, as well as cattle fed Rumensin with or without Tylan. The cattle receiving Cattlyst showed:
- 11.82 more pounds of hot carcass weight1
- 0.64 pound greater feed intake per day1
- 0.11 pound greater ADG1
Cattlyst® contains laidlomycin propionate potassium, at 50 grams per pound, in a carrier suitable for incorporation into feed.
