For: Beef Cattle - Available in: United States
Bovatec® (lasalocid) medicated feed additive is an ionophore that helps boost feed efficiency and gain in confined beef cattle and gain in pasture cattle. Bovatec is used for control of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii in beef cattle up to 800 pounds.
Indications
Approved for:
- Improved feed efficiency and increased rate of weight gain when fed in confinement for slaughter
- Increased rate of weight gain for pasture cattle (slaughter, stocker, feeder cattle, and dairy and beef replacement heifers)
- Control of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii in cattle up to 800 pounds, as well as in replacement dairy calves
- Won’t compromise feed intake1-4
- Effectively controls coccidiosis
- Approved for increased gains in pasture and increased gains and feed efficiency in feedlot cattle; effective in a wide range of diets
- No step-up required
- Wide range of free-choice approvals
- Bovatec® Liquid 20 Type A Medicated Article is the only liquid ionophore commercially available.
- Is approved for combination feeding with Aureomycin® or Aureo S 700®. When Bovatec® is fed in combination with Aureomycin or Aureo S 700, a veterinary feed directive is required.
-
Bovatec also has cross clearances with MGA®, MGA and Aureomycin, or oxytetracycline.
A large pen study demonstrated that cattle fed Bovatec® showed equal feed efficiency to those fed Rumensin®, but had significantly greater total gains (P > 0.05), average daily gains (ADG) (P > 0.05) and feed intake (P < 0.05), especially for starting cattle.5

Do not use Bovatec in calves to be processed for veal. Do not allow horses or other equines access to feeds containing lasalocid, as ingestion may be fatal. Feeding undiluted or mixing errors resulting in excessive concentrations of lasalocid could be fatal to cattle and sheep.
Withdraw Aureo S 700 seven (7) days prior to slaughter. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.
Do not use Aureomycin in calves to be processed for veal.
Caution: Federal law restricts medicated feed containing this veterinary feed directive (VFD) drug (Aureomycin and Aureo S 700) to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
