Bovatec®

For dairy producers,  Bovatec® (lasalocid) medicated feed additive is an ionophore that helps increase weight gain in cattle, and is used for control of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii in replacement dairy heifer calves through hand feeding in milk replacer powder. Bovatec can be mixed in a premix for a total mixed ration (TMR), as well as in a milk replacer.

Indications

Approved for:

  • Increased rate of weight gain for pasture cattle (slaughter, stocker, feeder cattle, and dairy and beef replacement heifers)
  • Control of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii in cattle up to 800 pounds, including replacement dairy calves and heifers

  • If not being fed to lactating dairy heifers or cows, Bovatec is approved for combination feeding with Aureomycin Type A Medicated Article. When Bovatec is fed in combination with Aureomycin, a veterinary feed directive is required.

Safety Information

Do not use Bovatec® in calves to be processed for veal. Do not allow horses or other equines access to feeds containing lasalocid, as ingestion may be fatal. Feeding undiluted or mixing errors resulting in excessive concentrations of lasalocid could be fatal to cattle and sheep.

Do not use Aureomycin in calves to be processed for veal.

Caution: Federal law restricts medicated feed containing this veterinary feed directive (VFD) drug (Aureomycin) to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
