For: Beef Cattle, Dairy Cattle - Available in: United States
Available in three formulations, Deccox® (decoquinate) products are nonantibiotic medications administered through feed, whole milk or milk replacers to help prevent coccidiosis in calves.
Indications
For the prevention of coccidiosis in ruminating and nonruminating calves (including veal calves) and cattle caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii.
Key Features:
- A nonantibiotic anticoccidial
- Effective in helping prevent coccidiosis by stopping the development of coccidia early in the life cycle
- The only anticoccidial medication approved for use in veal calves
- Versatile applications in dairy (milk replacer, whole milk, or complete feeds) and beef operations (top-dress and complete feeds)
- Approved for use in combination with Aureomycin® Type A Medicated Article to provide respiratory treatment and coccidiosis prevention. When Deccox® is fed in combination with Aureomycin, a veterinary feed directive (VFD) is required.
- Multiple formulations available
In a field trial, compared with heifers fed their ration alone, those fed Deccox® demonstrated:1
- No signs of scouring versus 70% of control calves with signs of scouring
- Because Deccox helped reduce scouring, calves demonstrated:
- +15.7 pounds of total gain
- +0.28 pound per day
Approved Deccox® cross clearances:
- Aureomycin®
- Rumensin®
- Rumensin and Tylan®
- Generic formulations of monensin and tylosin
Do not use Deccox in cows producing milk for human consumption.
Do not use Aureomycin in calves to be processed for veal.
Caution: Federal law restricts medicated feed containing this veterinary feed directive (VFD) drug (Aureomycin) to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
